Lower Merion Township Dump: A Guide to Proper Disposal

As part of its commitment to maintaining a clean and sustainable environment, Lower Merion Township offers regular dump events where residents can dispose of their unwanted household items without charge. The next scheduled event is taking place on Saturday, April 13th, and Sunday, April 14th.

During this event, residents can bring a wide range of materials to be recycled or disposed of safely. These include electronics equipment, motor oil, antifreeze, turpentine, furniture stripper, household pesticides, drain and oven cleaners, and swimming pool chemicals. Household hazardous waste cannot be disposed of with regular household waste and requires special handling to ensure safe disposal.

Fortunately, Montgomery County sponsors collection sites for safe disposal of household hazardous waste, making it easier for residents to properly dispose of these items. The township also partners with several non-profit organizations that will have representatives on hand during the event to collect bicycles, furniture, clothing, and other items.

In addition to recycling and disposing of unwanted materials, residents can also take advantage of the township's special collection program for electronic waste. This program is designed to ensure that electronics are recycled responsibly and in an environmentally friendly manner.
